Are Cane Corsos Good With Cats?

Are Cane Corso’s Good with Cats?

We often hear stories about cats and dogs fighting, however in 10 years of raising the Cane Corso breed, we have never experienced any problems with our cats and our dogs. The breed we had prior to the Cane Corso (The Pitbull) did have a habit of chasing small animals so we were not able to have cats when we had our Pitbull.

We have noticed not only does the Cane Corso not chase our cats, but they also actually ignore them. We feel it has something to do with the protective instincts of the Cane Corso. The Cane Corso’s see our cats as part of the family and therefore choose to protect them rather than torment them. I was surprised at first when I noticed this, so I thought it was just that particular dog, however after exposing 5 dogs over time to our cats I realized it was breed specific.

We have noticed that our Cane Corso’s respect all small animals and may be curious, however they host a loving attitude towards small animals as though they want to protect them.

Here is a quick video where I give my opinion on Cane Corso’s and Cats.
